Hi again, friends!
So, here is just a random fact about me: I moved back in with my parents for a couple months to save money. The apartment complex that I lived in for 4 years prior was fully furnished so I didn't have to move furniture, which was so nice. I have furniture here at my parents, because my parents kept my room the exact same from when I moved out 10 years ago. So, I was able to get my belongings from my attic and the garage into my room.
On top of my things in the garage, My brother, who is an amazing baseball player, has a lot of his gear in the garage and then of course my parents have random stuff in there too. Because of this, our garage is very cluttered and needs some cleaning out. That’s what led me to this post - I want to talk about how to declutter your garage since we just finished decluttering ours. Here are five key factors that will help when it comes to getting your garage clutter-free:
1. Organize your tools

Organizing your tools not only help to declutter your garage but helps you find your tools next time you need them. Use a peg board and either pegs or hooks to display everything for easy access. Add wire baskets to the pegs board for additional storage.
2. Use wall and ceiling space

A great rule of thumb is to hang everything. If it can be put on a hook, hang it!
You can also find out here how to create storage on the ceiling of the garage.

3. Remove Pool tables and other unused items

Our pool table was collecting dusk and being buried under a mountain of storage. If you want your pool table moved for you, consider calling Absolute Billiard Services. 4. Build a family area

This can also be referred to as a Mud room. If you have extra space in your garage, consider making it useful. Areas or corners like this is perfect for the kids shoes and backpacks. If your kids play sports, this keep mud and dirts from being tracked through the house. Lindus Construction says, “More commonly seen in country homes, they’re becoming more popular in city homes as well. Mudrooms seem like a natural necessity here in the Midwest because of the four seasons especially our wet springs and snowy winters. Mudrooms allow organization of tangible items that we use and wear every day such as shoes, coats, backpacks, sporting equipment soiled or wet clothing preventing dirt from being tracked throughout your home. Mudrooms also come in handy for homeowners with pets allowing them to wash or dry them off before letting them in your living space. Since a mudroom bridges the space between outdoors and indoors, if you don’t have one you can easily create one by converting current space or building an addition. Below are ideas to help inspire a mudroom in your home. Your mudroom will be the hardest working room in your home due to the abuse it will endure and will require more durable and easy to clean materials. Applying beadboard or wainscoting will help prevent scratching and denting on your walls while your kids are lugging around their sporting equipment. Using waterproof paint on your walls and trim will help with rain and snow that will be dripping off coats and boots. Linoleum, tile, concrete or resin flooring will work well tolerating muddy boots and also is less resistant to slipping when wet.”
